The Innlet, Apartments, Cottages and Backpackers
The Innlet is a rural accommodation set at the foot of Kahurangi National Park and 300 metres to a beautiful sandy beach.
It comprises the original farm house villa for the area, which is now our share facility hostel with four bedrooms, a double, twin, 5 share and 4 bed family room. In the garden is our garden cottage, Opua, which has a double an single bed, open plan kitchen, and private bathroom on side deck.
In a separate building we offer two apartments, both with queen beds, bathrooms, and either full kitchen or kitchenette.
At 100 metres behind these buildings we offer Ruru Cottage, a fully self contained cottage sleeping 6, private and with an outside hot tub.
All our options include quality linen, access to stream side bbqs, outside furniture and local advice.
Room Descriptions
- Garden Flat
- The Garden Flat comprises a large queen bedroom with private bathroom: shower, toilet, basin, and a small kitchenette ideal for breakfasts.
Guests are welcome to use the large kitchen in the Farm House Villa at 20 metres for full oven facility cooking. It looks out on to a flower garden fringed by native forest vegetation, and includes furniture and bbq.
Guest access:
The Garden Flat is about 5 metres across the lawn from the car park. Or from the Farm House Villa walk up the slate path to the green glass doors.
Other things to note: 300 metres to local sandy beach.
Many guests also use The Innlet as their base for a day walk around the northern end of the Abel Tasman National Park as well as the nearby Farewell Spit and Wharariki Beach. - Book Here
- Innlet Family Room
- The Family Room is a large room with a view through a bay window on to a garden and trees. It has 3 single beds and 1 single bunk. It uses all the Farmhouse Villa facilities which includes streamside bbq and the Swedish composting toilets for use during the daytime.The property is set beside a pristine forest stream with flower gardens and bbqs. It is a short 300 metres to a beautiful sandy beach.

- Opua Cottage
- Opua is set in a rural garden nearby to farmhouse hostel. Native forest surroundings, beautiful pristine stream and 300 m to the sandy beach, with a new private bathroom on side deck. A 1 hour bush walk up into the hills behind gives wonderful views over Golden Bay. We provide good quality bedding, towels etc.
Opua is a cute small cottage that has a double and a single bed. It has an open plan kitchen.
The deck faces the morning sun and you are free to use any of the decks around the garden and the bbq. - Book Here
- Ruru Cottage
- If you are looking for peace and quiet, with easy access to a multitude of day walks, both coastal, forest and mountain, then Ruru Cottage is ideal for you.
It features an outside bath beside the stream for star gazers and a bbq.
There are two lofts, a queen and two singles, which are accessed by sturdy ladders. The main queen bedroom is on the ground floor.
On cooler evenings fire up the log fire.
Wifi is provided free but limited...from Rural Broadband 4g. There is washing machine and fully equipped kitchen....

- The Hut Forest Cabin
- The "Hut" is a small delightful rustic cabin with good quality bed and linen and set in a small clearing above a stream.
The kitchen is an undercover semi detached simple affair..on the deck. It has a gas caravan type cooker, toaster, jug, fridge and gas hotwater to the sink.
Behind it is a small building with shower and composting toilet. 400mb wifi/day.
From the car park area it is a 25 metre walk up a bush path.
It is very private, 10 metres above a stream, surrounded by native vegetation and has a sunny lawn.
Normally Available November 1st to March 31st.
This is a very rural location. 300 metres to safe sandy swimming beach. Access to private bush walk with panoramic views over Golden Bay. - Book Here
- The Innlet Double Room
- The double room has a double bed with crisp linen and 4 pillows. French doors open on to a wooden deck and an internal door opens into the living room. The bathrooms and internal toilet are 5 metres along the deck. There is a desk and pegs for hanging clothes as well as drawers. The setting is a verdant garden above a pristine forest stream, 300 metres from a sandy beach.
During the daytime we require our guests to use our Clivus Multrum composting toilets...specifically designed to protect our pristine stream environment. - Book Here
- The Innlet Queen Room
- The Queen room has a 1 queen size bed with inner sprung mattresses and crisp linen and 4 pillows. Large ranch sliders look out on to a covered patio with forest surrounds. The bathrooms and internal toilet are 20 metres across the car park. The setting is a verdant garden above a pristine forest stream, 300 metres from a sandy beach. During the daytime we like you to use our Swedish composting toilets.

- Our Green Room has 4 beds and one top bunk. It is large and airy with French doors opening on to a deck and garden view. Full access to the hostel bathrooms, kitchen etc, and outside facilities including a stream side bbq and hammock.

- This is a fully self contained apartment featuring a full oven kitchen and large bathroom, private lawn, log fire, queen bed and couch. - The Twin room has a 2 single beds with inner sprung mattresses and crisp linen and 2 pillows each. A sash window looks out on to a flower garden and lawn. The bathrooms and internal toilet are across the living and kitchen and laundry area. The setting is a verdant garden above a pristine forest stream, 300 metres from a sandy beach. During the daytime we like you to use our Swedish composting toilets. Stream side bbq, 300metres to local sandy beach and a 1 hour private bush walk with stunning views over Golden Bay.
